Beta Terms of Use
These Beta Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Project Word research beta.
Version: terms-v2. Governing law: Delaware, United States. Effective date: September 4, 2026.
Acceptance
By checking the Terms box and starting a game, you agree to these Terms. The box starts unchecked. We do not treat browsing, opening this page, or reading the Privacy Notice as acceptance.
The Privacy Notice is provided so you can understand how Project Word handles information. Checking the Terms box is not blanket consent for advertising, marketing, or unrelated processing. Project Word does not use those practices.
Eligibility and geographic limits
You must be at least 13 years old. People 13 to 17 may participate if they can agree to these Terms. Project Word is not directed to children under 13.
The beta is offered only to people located in the United States. By starting a game you represent that you are located in the United States. We do not currently block access by IP address or other location technology. We rely on this representation.
The beta is public at projectwordgames.com. Invitation links are optional and do not create extra identity records.
Experimental beta status
Project Word is an early research experiment. Features, words, rules, availability, and stored data may change, pause, contain errors, or be withdrawn at any time. We may interrupt or end the beta without notice.
Limited permission to use Project Word
We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use Project Word for your own personal, non-commercial testing and play during the beta.
You may not copy, scrape, reverse engineer, or redistribute the game, word list, software, or research data except as allowed by law. You may not attack, overload, or probe the service, bypass daily limits with automated tools, submit malware, or use Project Word to harm others.
Ownership
The operator owns Project Word, including the software, design, game definitions, and approved word data, along with related research analysis. Playing does not give you ownership of those materials.
Words you type as moves are used to operate and study the game as described in the Privacy Notice.
Feedback license
If you send feedback, including optional survey comments, you grant the operator a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, adapt, and create derivative works from that feedback for product research and improvement. We do not have to use it. You keep any rights you already have in the words you typed, subject to this license and the Privacy Notice.
Optional comments
Survey comments are optional. Do not submit personal, confidential, or sensitive information, or content that is unlawful, hateful, or infringing. We may ignore or delete comments that appear to contain that material.
Suspension and ending use
We may suspend or end access, delete stored research records for a tester, or withdraw the beta if we believe these Terms were broken, if we need to protect the service, or if the experiment ends.
No guarantee of saved progress
We do not promise that game progress, scores, invitations, or stored data will be preserved. Clearing this browser’s local storage, switching devices, or a service change can prevent restore. Daily play limits are enforced for the stored pseudonymous user ID in that browser, not across every device.
Warranty disclaimer
Project Word is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, quiet enjoyment, and non-infringement, and we do not warrant that the beta will be uninterrupted, accurate, or error-free.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or lost play time, arising from the beta. If a court finds we are liable, our total liability for claims relating to the beta is limited to fifty U.S. dollars (US $50).
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, excluding conflict-of-law rules. You and the operator agree that the state and federal courts located in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction, and you consent to those courts. These Terms do not require arbitration.
Changes
If we make a material change to these Terms, we will show the updated Terms before the next new game and require a new unchecked acceptance. We will not silently rewrite stored acceptance evidence for an earlier version.
